If you are interested in owning your own Bassett Horn in order to play the great works of Mozart, Strauss and others this is an opportunity not to be missed. I have owned and performed on this professional Leblanc instrument, s/n xxxx1, for over 20 years and it has never let me down. Leblanc harmony clarinets are famous for their sensible keywork design, bold sound and the free blowing character of their larger bore designs and this instrument exemplifies all these traits.
This Bassett Horn has been completely repadded in brown leather pads and I have added an extra sling ring so that a double hook sling can be used. The wood is in excellent condition apart from a hairline crack in the top joint from the receiver down the body for about 3-4 inches (this happened before I owned the instrument) but it has been successfully pinned and never opened up again. The keywork is nickel plated and it has a blush on it now but shows no signs of surface wear. The lower note finger pattern is low D played with LH little finger, low Db with RH little finger on lowest key top row and low C played with the thumb. It has the original Leblanc mouthpiece and I have included a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and Rovner ligature and cap with the outfit. It is housed in a custom made, wooden frame case with individual slots for all joints, bell, crook and mouthpiece and covered in black leatherette materiel with white piping threads. The interior is lined in red velour-type material. I have been extremely happy playing this Bassett and it has attracted much admiration from other players over the years.
